  1. MS Excel is an electronic  spreadsheet program that is a part of Microsoft office suite.  
  2. An electronic spreadsheet program is used for storing, organizing, manipulating and analyzing data. 
  3. Workbook is another term for the Excel file which has the extension of. Xls or. Xlsx. 
  4. Worksheet is the work area of an electronic spreadsheet. A Workbook is composed of several worksheets. 
  5. A worksheet is made of rows and columns. 
  6. The horizontal rows are identified by numbers (1, 2, 3). 
  7. The intersection of a row and a column is called a cell.
  8.  Each cell is identified by its cell address. 
  9. A cell address is also referred as cell reference
  10. A series or a group of adjacent cells is called a range (e.g. A3 to A10, B7 to J7, C3 to G10). 
  11. The format of a cell address or cell reference is column letter followed by the row number
  12. To enter data on a cell, simply click on the cell and enter the data, then press enter or tab, click another cell. 
  13. Pressing enter key will take you the cell on the next row. Pressing tab will take you the cell on the next column. 
  14.  The types of data a cell can hold:  text, numbers, boolean, dates and times,  and  formulas.
